Just Announced: LEICA DG VARIO-ELMAR 100-400mm for Lumix

Panasonic has introduced a new lens which combines 200-800mm zoom (35mm equivalent) and 4K video compatibility in a durable and lightweight body for their LUMIX G range of Micro Four Thirds System cameras.

This 100-400mm F/4.0-6.3 LEICA VARIO-ELMAR designed for Mirrorless Micro Four Thirds cameras is up to two-thirds smaller and nearly one-fifth the weight of comparable DSLR 35mm long zoom lenses – and packs a punch with a 200-800mm equivalent zoom. It comes in at just 6.75 inches from tip-to-tip and weighs just less than 35 ounces.

Ideally suited for the outdoors with a splash and dustproof sealed body, it has impressive image stability with integrated LUMIX Power Optical Image Stabilization (O.I.S) and LUMIX Dual I.S. camera compatibility and comes complete with an integrated (and removable) rotary tripod mount and built-in sliding lens hood..

Announced for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016, the lens should be available at Mike’s Camera in early April for $1799.99.
