Sony A7 Mark II – Significant Firmware Update Now Available

Sony’s entry full frame mirrorless camera, the A7 Mark II has been improved with new firmware; version 2.0 is now available.

In addition to adding a 14-bit uncompressed RAW format option, which in and of itself is quite significant, the new firmware also adds dramatically faster phase-detection autofocus support when using AF-supported lens adapters. This means your Canon lenses on the A7 Mark II will autofocus with approximately the same speed as native Sony E & FE lenses.

Additionally, Sony’s A-mount lens adapters, the full frame LA-EA3 and APS-C LA-EA1 now support the faster phase detection AF method. They’ve also added functionality for customizing keys while recording video.

Mike’s suggests you always run the latest firmware on your camera. Click here to install the update.
